ICF Foundation honors ICF Chapters for work with nonprofit organizations.

Lexington, Kentucky, USA— The International Coach Federation (ICF) Foundation presented its inaugural Culture of Giving and Gift of Coaching Awards at an October 29, 2015, ceremony held during ICF Advance: Forward in Portland, Oregon, USA.

The ICF Foundation’s Gift of Coaching Awards program recognizes ICF Chapters with impactful pro bono coaching initiatives that make a difference in their local communities. 2015 applicants were judged according to four criteria: alignment of mission and vision, governance practices, learning effectiveness, and outcomes demonstrating participant value and positive community impact.

“We are inspired by the stories of success shared by the applicants,” said Foundation Board of Trustees President Janet Harvey, MCC (USA). “We knew that impact and influence was happening locally, and to observe the tangible value and inspired influence that participants in each community enjoyed strengthens our commitment to encourage these programs throughout the world.”

ICF Metro DC was presented with the 2015 ICF Foundation Culture of Giving Award for its demonstrated success in creating a portfolio of impactful pro bono coaching initiatives and ongoing commitment to the Foundation’s ideals and values.

In the past half-decade, ICF Metro DC has provided pro bono coaching to leaders and clients of several nonprofit organizations, including Leadership Arlington, Leadership Fairfax, the International Monetary Fund Family Association and Share Our Strength. More recently, the chapter streamlined its process by partnering with a trio of nonprofits that specialize in delivering pro bono coaching: Stand Beside Them, The Coach Initiative and Women For Change Coaching Community. Thanks to the new, more sustainable, structure, 45 ICF Metro DC coaches are currently delivering pro bono coaching through the chapter.

ICF Metro DC board member Anne Conlan, MCC, accepted the award on behalf of her chapter.

ICF Raleigh was presented with the 2015 ICF Foundation Gift of Coaching Award for its partnership with the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits. ICF Raleigh coaches provide pro bono coaching to executives and senior leaders from the Center’s member organizations. Topics addressed during coaching include leadership development, health and wellness, and career and personal development. The chapter also invited members of ICF Charlotte to participate in the initiative to provide wider geographic coverage. Geia Williams, director of member assistance for the Center, said, “The coaching initiative enables us to achieve our primary goal of helping nonprofits achieve their missions.”

ICF Raleigh past president and Community Coaching Outreach committee chair Sackeena Gordon-Jones, PCC, accepted the award on behalf of her chapter.

The Foundation recognized ICF Central Florida with a Gift of Coaching honorable mention for its partnership with the MBA program at the University of Tampa’s Sykes College of Business.

The International Coach Federation Foundation is a separate nonprofit entity from the International Coach Federation. The Foundation supports various projects around the following objectives: to create and maintain a volunteer service of professional Business and Life Coaches offering pro bono coaching; to conduct research and commission member studies on a variety of topics on issues related to the coaching profession; and to carry out other activities consistent with the organization’s 501(c)(3) purposes.
