The ICF Foundation partnered in 2021 with social system change organizations in Northern Ireland, Bolivia, Ghana, Guatemala, Kenya, Malawi and Peru to offer pro bono professional coaching services to their leadership teams. This collaboration is intended to pursue positive, sustainable social change and is in support of the United Nations Global Goals. This project was executed in partnership with Many Hopes and its partner organizations. Many Hopes works to move children out of poverty provide good health and well-being and improve inequalities. Organizations rescued, equipped and educated more children (906 served — more than 300 children served than targeted), in the last 12 months than they originally planned due to improved leadership effectiveness through coaching.  Every organization exceeded or achieved its goals to rescue, equip, launch and educate more children. One hundred percent (100%) of leaders and team members surveyed agreed that coaching helped to accelerate their strategic plans and amplify their missions.

“Congratulations to the International Coaching Federation (ICF) Foundation for exemplifying the impact associations have on the industries and professions they represent, and on society at large,” said ASAE President and CEO Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE. “It’s always so incredibly satisfying to see associations going above and beyond their everyday mission to change the world. We’re very proud to spotlight this award-winning initiative.”

“The ICF Foundation believes that globally, the effectiveness of social system change organizations increases through professional coaching. Coaching builds capacity in organizations and has a ripple effect when applied to leadership. While the efficacy of coaching for organizations in general is known, data from this project supports that professional coaching has a positive social impact,” said ICF Foundation Vice President Coura Badiane, MBA, CAE.

“The ICF Foundation has been so valuable in their finding of local, culturally appropriate coaches in each country and early reports from coaching sessions have been positive and provided valuable insight,” said Many Hopes Founder and CEO Thomas Keown.
